The meeting was brought to order by President Char Bucher at 6:35 at the Garden Terrace Center. In the absence of Secretary Ginny Sparlin the minutes were read by Noreen Goetz. The minutes were corrected to say $100 for Marg Leggitt and the $9.21 was for April and the balance was $2010.71.
Treasurer, Pat Greene, reported Judy Patti's seminar expenses were $500 for workshop space and supplies, income was $345.
Membership: Elissa McAlear brought up the subject of a May renewal. It was accepted for this year. Membership is now 36.
Art Shows: Elissa McAlear reported 3 categories that were eliminated - still life, accessory furniture, and whimsical and children. Rules are the same, no fees, ribbons will be given for first and second place. Best of show will be given for member and teacher. The show and banquet will be at the Summit in Aurora, September 9, cost it $16. More information in newsletter.
Seminars: Marlene Haviland reported Judy Patti's workshop has been changed from July 23 to August 27. Pictures are online - along with the supply list, Additional supplies will be $7. Libby Kyer will be asked to return and do her seminar on clay pots with geraniums penciled on the pots. Fees for each seminar will be $40 for members and $50 for non members. More information is coming in the newsletter. There are no meetings in July and August. The October program will be Iris Luckel with ornaments, recipe cards and bookmarks done in ink and watercolors. Phyllis Vandehaar will be giving a program on watercolors tonight.
Melinda Barnes reported on seminars by Della Wetterman who does all styles but specializes in old style folk art. Discussion was held. She also mentioned Kathy Read from Colorado Springs would be willing to have a seminar possibly in July/August 2012. Discussion was held.
Old business: Char Bucher announced problems with the room we are presently having our meetings in, especially with regards to seminar space. She strongly suggested we all be looking for an alternate space. Marlene reported on the Life Center. They will start charging and no food will be allowed due to liability. Pat Greene said we no longer pay national liability. Char announced most board members will be returning depending on the distance to the meeting place. Sue Hoover will not be doing hospitality any more. Discussion was held about food at the meetings. Pat Geene made a motion that food was not necessary at monthly meetings except at the Christmas meeting (depending on place). The motion was seconded and the vote carried.
No new business.
Melinda suggested looking at the website once in a while. The information and pictures were great.
